SQUARE-SPOT RUSTIC
Xestia xanthographa

A very common species, the distribution of which, covers most of Britain. It is found in woodland edges, waste ground and suburban habitats and flies during August and September, frequently visiting light-traps. During the winter, the nocturnal caterpillars feed on grasses and other low-growing plants.
