LIVER BUILDING

The Royal Liver Building stands at 295 feet and was designed in 1908 by Walter Aubrey Thomas. It was built by Edmund Nuttall and completed in 1911. It is crowned by a pair of clock towers, both 25ft in diameter, which are the largest electronically driven clocks in the UK. At the top of each tower stand the mythical Liver Birds, designed by Carl Bernard Bartels who entered and won a competition to design them.
