MARMALADE HOVERFLY
Episyrphus balteatus

This distinct orange and black banded hoverfly is widespread and very common and their numbers are continually boosted with immigration from the continent. They should be encouraged in gardens, as the predatory adults feed on aphids and are also nectar feeders.
