WATERMAN'S COTTAGE

This landmark building, also known as Heapey Cottage, is situated on the banks of Anglezarke Reservoir, the largest reservoir in the Rivington chain. It was built by the Liverpool Corporation, along with other dwellings in the Rivington area, and is an impressive mock-tudor style structure built with local stone. In the 1940s, Denis and Anne Oakden became its first noted occupants.
