EASTGATE CLOCK

Eastgate Clock in Chester stands on the site of the original entrance to the Roman fortress of Deva Victrix. The current structure, sandstone gateway and clock, dates from 1768 and was listed by English Heritage on 28th July 1955 as a Grade I listed building. The clock was designed by Chester architect John Douglas and is reputed to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben.
