THE CRAZY 365 BIT...

This is where, as from the 1st May 2010, I shall be taking an image a day.
Not for one second am I expecting this area to contain any masterpieces, it's more of an ongoing project and, in some respects, a bit of photographic discipline

rear window

Tuesday 31st August 2010 - 'Rear Window'

Drove to Emsworth at 05:20 to catch the sunrise, only to find that I kept coming back to this shot I took of a parked car with a street light shining through, making the headrests and condensation look rather foreboding.
Thought the title of the 1954 classic Hitchcock film suited this image rather well.

the quack pack

Monday 30th August 2010 - 'The Quack Pack'

We went to The Emsworth Show today, held every August Bank Holiday Monday. This amusing shot is of 'The Quack Pack', ran by Meirion Owen who provides hilariously entertaining duck herding demonstrations for the general public and corporate clients. He uses one of four different Border Collies, the one running out of the left hand edge of the photo is Glen. See my blog for more information.

pink horse

Sunday 29th August 2010 - 'Pink Horse'

The shadow of a clothes horse in what was Tanya's daughter's old bedroom.

the shipwrights cottage

Saturday 28th August 2010 - 'The Shipwright's Cottage'

Tanya and I had a fantastic day at Buckler's Hard, a maritime museum, part of the Beaulieu Estate in the New Forest.
This shot was taken within The Shipwright's Cottage, the home of Thomas Burlace, one of the men who built the Agamemnon ship.

beer bubbles

Friday 27th August 2010 - 'Beer Bubbles'

Hadn't a clue what to take for my 365 today, until I noticed some bubbles in the top of a bottle of 'Ramsbury Gold' real ale.

blue movie

Thursday 26th August 2010 - 'Blue Movie'

This is Tanya sat inside Gallery 1 in the Aspex Gallery at Gunwharf Quays, watching a looped film that was being played. Taken with my 75-300mm lens, low light and no tripod, I rather like the effect.

splash

Wednesday 25th August 2010 - 'Splash'

I've wanted to try and capture a water splash ever since seeing a shot by John Tisbury, many moons ago.
Having taken over 50 images, with very little success, this was my favourite.

recycling point

Tuesday 24th August 2010 - 'Recycling Point'

Had a walk around Emsworth this afternoon and spotted the mildly amusing pun within this. I also liked how the shadows formed a shape not dissimilar to the Channel 4 logo.

opticals

Monday 23rd August 2010 - 'Opticals'

Taken in Wests Bar, West Street, Chichester, this afternoon.

since 1801

Sunday 22nd August 2010 - 'Since 1801'

Having come downstairs with a slightly fuzzy head after the Pompey Beer Festival yesterday, I noticed we'd somehow acquired a Union Flag. The reason for the title is because that's the year when the current design was first used.

0007

Saturday 21st August 2010 - '0007'

A simple macro shot of some credit card digits, the other twelve to follow... not!

geranium wargrave pink

Friday 20th August 2010 - 'Geranium Wargrave Pink'

Simple macro shot of a Geranium Wargrave Pink.

blister pack

Thursday 19th August 2010 - 'Blister Pack'
WARNING: If you are slightly squeamish, keep your cursor on this image.

A straight shot of a blister pack of Flucloxacillin that I have been prescribed to clear an infection of Cellulitis, caused by a small, round, jet black fly. The rollover image is of the centre of the bite, yet the infection has spread from just below my knee to all the way down my shin and halfway up my thigh. The black line is permanent marker so I can check to see if it spreads any more.

don't adjust your set

Wednesday 18th August 2010 - 'Don't Adjust Your Set'

A multi-coloured computer screen taken through the apertures of a colander, deliberately throwing both out of focus.

amalgam of light

Tuesday 17th August 2010 - 'Amalgam of Light'

A complete fluke that I spotted this and very hard to explain what it is because of the different sources of light, various shadows, some reflections and the different components within, so I won't bother to!

citric acid

Monday 16th August 2010 - 'Citric Acid'

The last of my vibrant backgrounds with things associated to drink in front of them. This one is of a slice of lemon against a bright yellow background.

one green bottle

Sunday 15th August 2010 - 'One Green Bottle'

Just a wine bottle taken against a green computer screen.

glass trio

Saturday 14th August 2010 - 'Glass Trio'

Not my intended shot today - I thought a trip to Chichester would have provided me with something. This shot is of three different items of glassware; a pint glass, a tumbler and another one that I don't know the name of!

flexi

Friday 13th August 2010 - 'Flexi'

A bendy straw; front lit by natural daylight, back lit by a red computer screen and side lit from an angle-poise lamp.

mill pond mooring

Thursday 12th August 2010 - 'Mill Pond Mooring'

A boat moored up behind a cottage on Emsworth Mill Pond.

a fine start

Wednesday 11th August 2010 - 'A Fine Start'

Common Road, on the outskirts of Funtington, West Sussex at 05:32 this morning.

south street

Tuesday 10th August 2010 - 'South Street'

Drove to Emsworth for both a walk and photography and no sooner had I pulled up, the heavens opened.
This is a shot of some of the old fisherman's cottages on South Street through my car window.

the beginning

Monday 9th August 2010 - 'The Beginning'

Title can obviously mean two things. The beginning of the day (drove here at 04:50 this morning to capture the sunrise... which wasn't all that spectacular) or the beginning of time itself.
This 'beast' that is being exhibited on Southsea Common, Portsmouth, is a life-size replica of the Ultrasaurus, apparently the largest animal ever to walk this Earth.

100psi

Sunday 8th August 2010 - '100psi'

I ended up chasing my tail for the best part of the day, in the hope that I could capture the perfect '100' image. I was up and out of the door at 07:00am... nothing doing. We then went out a little later on... still nothing doing. I then went out again for a few hours this afternoon, covering the entire city of Chichester... still nothing doing.
I finally opted to use a shot I'd taken earlier today of a rusty old foot pump...

1-15

Saturday 7th August 2010 - '1-15'

I spotted this yesterday in Havant town centre and decided to drive there this morning, when there were very few people about. I wanted to take this shot for my hundredth shot tomorrow, only 1+2+3... ...+15 comes to 120... which annoyed me somewhat...

banana spots

Friday 6th August 2010 - 'Banana Spots'

Does exactly what it says in the title...

prismatic

Thursday 5th August 2010 - 'Prismatic'

Whilst holding a halogen lightbulb with one hand, I repeatedly tried to take a photograph with the other hand. Macro hand-held shots are incredibly difficult, especially when you don't have a firm base to rest on!

three pronged

Wednesday 4th August 2010 - 'Three Pronged'

Simple shot of a plug socket. The shadows of the prongs were the attraction.

whisk

Tuesday 3rd August 2010 - 'Whisk'

A simple macro shot of a whisk.

windows of the soul

Monday 2nd August 2010 - 'Windows of the Soul'

One of the many ornate windows found within the town of Emsworth, Hampshire.

waterburst

Sunday 1st August 2010 - 'Waterburst'

Looking through the very base of a mineral water bottle. I liked how it formed a sunburst shape, hence the title I've given it.
